Fundraising help

Can anyone suggest a good fundraiser than can be done by a small team?

We did a car wash with about 15 people and made over $500.

PS. There is a fundraising forum with a lot of potentially good ideas.

Whoops, ok thanks.

So where did you have your car wash? At your school? Because i don’t think our school would let us hold a car wash using all that water, plus the school is so far off the road.

find some local auto garage on a main road with a water hook up and ur set.

Ummm, a really good fundraiser is a speghetti dinner dance, have a local restaurant donate food, sell tons upon tons of tickets, have people show up at ur local VFW or public hall, and serve themm food. On the side you have ticket raffle items, and silent auction items. Also have a good DJ playing musci EVERYONE will like and uve got the hook up. We have our own personal DJ, and no you cant have him, hes also our snow plow man, hehehehe. this is our biggest event of the year, and takes alot of planning, but is wikked worth while

The water would cost like $50 max. We didn’t have it at our school as that street does not get enough traffic. We had it in the parking lot of a local American Legion Hall on a rather busy street. Try to get a gas station to give you some space (and water) for a day. Other good places would be a parking lot of a restaurant before on a day they are closed perhaps. Wherever you have it, just make sure it is in a high traffic area in an area where people would be willing to pay your price for a wash. A lot of times too people come just to support and get their carwash too.

And I’m sorry if I offend anyone but it does help to have some cute girls waving signs too. :yikes:

well considering we’re an all girls team, i think we can arrange that

what about a kid in rubber boots, two pairs of pants, a team shirt, and a backwards black hat waving the signs? Also you have to wave at people scream at the top of your lungs, give people the rock ‘n’ roll sign `|,|, the peace sign, the thumbs up, point, jump, dance, and make a complete idiot out of yourself until you are noticed. I’m the team’s car washing screaming idiot, unofficially. . .

We do a couple of fund raisers, one is the basket bingo and the other is a spaghetti dinner. GO to our website and you should be able to find some info on that. Also have Mr. Foell give us a call if you need help.

Well, from a marketing view, I would say to do presentations to some of the engineering/technological companies in your town. Every year we make a power point presentation and show the CEO’s/ representatives who we are, what we do, and how they can help us achieve our goals. We have a 50,000 budget, and the students got all of it this year. We each had to bring in a 200 dollar tax credit (in Az, they have a system where you can bring in up to 250 dollars and have it written off of your taxes), approach three businesses with letters, and assist with at least one presentation to travel. It was a really good system. We even brought our robot to them and let the business reps drive it around. They got a kick out of it and it really hooked them in.

Of course, we were a team that thrived completely on presentations of this type… Although we were thinking of buying a Segway with our budget and selling rides on it…

One more thing: Selling candy bars for a dollar makes you a mint if you can get it all donated. It’s pure profit.

We have had at least one car wash in the past and have another one coming up on the 24th. Both were/will be held at a local church parking lot that is close to our school. We’ll be competing with a professional hand car was for the same amount we charge immediately next door. :ahh:

This is not quick, but it may get you a lot of community backers for your team.

Check out every local merchant you or your family patronize: the dry cleaner, the deli, the doctor, the pizza parlor, the barber or hair salon, the nail salon, the car wash…

Lots of them have pictures of their Little League or Pop Warner teams or their soccer teams. So you know they support local student groups. So ask them for $250 bucks and see what happens. If everyone on the team pledges to ask 5 different local merchants, you would easily come up with at least $2,000. Just make sure that you keep track of which team member is asking which merchants, so you don’s ask anyone twice. And be sure to send thank-you notes, please.

Hope that helps…
