Has anyone had any experience using 30A fuses with their Neo 550s? Based on the number of available ports in our PDP, our team is forced to use 30/20A slots for some of our 550s. We’re using regular Neos for our drive train so no need to worry about that, we just wanted to make sure we aren’t about to blow anything.
Those are auto-resetting breakers, not fuses, just FYI.
Using smaller-than-needed breakers is always safer than using larger. Worst-case-scenario, they trip too often. So to answer your question more directly, it’ll be fine, so long as you keep your current draw below 20/30A (depending on the breaker you use). Nothing will break permanently if it does trip though.
I would say it’s a good idea to run Neo 550s on smaller breakers (and set appropriate current limits).
We have our NEO 550s software limited to 20A and have them on 30A breakers in the PDP. We haven’t tripped any breakers, burned out any motors, or lacked the torque to drive our mechanisms (that is because of proper gearing of course).
