Hey, I’ve been looking through the pneumatics manual and it doesnt refrence to if I need a 20 or a 30 amp fuse for it from the circuit breaker panel. Also is it the same for the compressor, its our teams first year trying pneumatics so I’d like it to work without us burning stuff out.
Compressor spike may use a 20 amp breaker instead of the fuse on the spike. Not sure what the breakers are for the rest of the system. Have you checked Section 8 of the manual? There may be something there, but I just gave it a quick read in the relevant area and didn’t see anything. You might want to read it carefully–it’s around page 26.
You need 20A breakers feeding each of the spikes. Note that you need this even though each spike has a fuse built in. You have to provide CB protection at the source (breaker panel).
The output of the spikes are connected to the compressor and the pneumatic solenoids (read the manual/directions and be sure that you replace the 24V coils of the SMC solenoids with the 12V coils).
The 20A fuse on the spike feeding the compressor may be replaced with a 20A circuit breaker (note that this is the only Spike that you can do this to).
Regards,
Mike
To summarize:
Feed Spikes with a 20A breaker (one per spike) from the Circuit Breaker Panel.
Fuse in Spike must be 20A
ONLY the compressor spike can use a 20A breaker instead of a fuse.
