I’ve started work on an opening sequence for the FIRST Video Game. However, I need to know the official title of the game, and I need the .max or CAD files of a couple of robots that competed (i think we’re doing Frenzy, right?)
It shouldn’t be too much for me to do this, and I might be able to get at least a rough up soon.
Allright, I’m currently working on remodeling the field a bit, and I’m outlaying the shots.
Also, I have another question. What movie format do you want it in (*.avi, *.mov, etc.) I’m not sure what’s used in games, but I think that of what I’ve used, mov files give the best quality.
Games seem to like either .avi, .mpg/.mpeg or a proprietary format. Avoid .wmv and .mov because they tend to require specific players (though .wmv is becoming a little more popular).
Also, it doesn’t look especially professional to have the QuickTime plugin strew Apple insignia all over the place (referring to the “Q” system tray icon, and other such things).
i intend on making writing my main contribution the game, so i could write a script for the opening. maybe even write a few and then have a poll. i’ll try to get a few done by the end of the week.
Here’s just a screenshot rendering of the field I’ve been working on. Some of the texturing still needs to be fixed, and I still need some robot files, so if you have 3D Studio Max or Inventor files of your robot, it would be greatly appreciated if you let me use them. Remember, this is just a test and its just for my own ideas for what’s going on, any input/criticism/comments are greatly appreciated.
Yes, those are some of the things I am working on with textures. The carpet has a grey carpet texture, which needs to be lightened and I need to redo the UVW map for that, as well as the stairs and diamond plate at the control station. And yes, I am currently working on creating the texture for the diamond plating.
My biggest logistical problem so far is the polygon count. I’ll need to reduce the amount on all of the balls and perhaps the PVC pipes.
