Are you making the trip?
We’re thinking about it.
Anyone else interested?
Sounds like fun!

Generally during the Spring season, the administration isn’t too happy when a few students miss like ~6 days of school for competition(in block schedule, that equivalent to 12 days), so I don’t think we’d be getting on anyone’s good side if the team came on Friday.

But we’re definitely making the trip for Saturday. We’re trying to get the school to help out with transportation so we’re not taking like 10 minivans down to Warner Robbins.

Is there a list of teams who have already signed up?

Oh snap! I went to high school in Warner Robins! And I didn’t think many people had ever heard of the place .

Perhaps there’s a teeny tiny chance I could make a trip down.

1319 will be there we already sent the check. We are so excited to finally be able to attend an off-season event. There just aren’t enough in are area. I am sure that G.R.I.T.S will be great and we can’t wait to see all our friends from GA as well as all the ones outside of GA and maybe ven some new ones. Hopefully we will have a chance for a few upgrades before we attend, so we can really “Make it Rain” Thanks again GA FIRST for putting this on and I can’t wait.

Glad to hear that 1319 and 1261 will be there. 343? 832 sent in our check Monday. Can’t wait to see everyone! Looks like its setting up to be a good field:)

Definitely second that there are not enough off-seasons in the South. We also plan of going to TNT in October.

Who else is going?

I hope that the event is putting at least a little bit of pressure on the 4 high schools in the county to show up and see what robotics is all about, and at least start a county-wide club. I know my old physics and calc teachers would have LOVED this kind of thing.

Maybe somebody from the planning committee could post a team list of who has signed up so far. There would have to be a minimum number of teams too, right? I wonder how 1V1 Lunacy would play out?

Love the event name!!!

I’m working on gauging interest with 2815, though time isn’t on our side; the first meeting for the team is the Tuesday after Labor Day to let the college kids get through the first week of classes without having to worry about pesky things like robots.

It looks like 1771 will be there, how many teams have registered? I hope that it doesn’t get canceled due to lack of interest.

Since the drive team was all seniors, there will be an all new drive team getting up to speed. At the moment. the bot is sporting a “WARNING! STUDENT DRIVER” sticker. We may just leave that on there for the competition.

Wow…luckly 3/4 of our drive team was not composed of seniors so we do have people to drive, but we’re running new try outs and giving others a chance to drive. We’re taking it as a “fun” event more than a “must win” event. :D.

Spoke with our district contact; due to travel restrictions in place for the fall, neither 1398, 1618, nor 2815 will be making the trip. I might make it down to spectate, though.

Budget crunches are getting us too:mad:
I hope you have a great event, and hope to see everybody at Peachtree:)

Wow, that’s a lot of teams that won’t make it.:ahh: Really sorry to hear that, you guys will be missed.

From what I’ve heard the field is about half way filled right now. If you know of a local team that might not have signed up please encourage them to do so. Of course all others are invited too:) It’d be nice to have a full field for this inaugural off-season event in Georgia.

It’d be nice to see more of the teams working together to try to raise funds for each other to attend the event…

Just a thought/suggestion.

Money is always an issue with us, usually we are fortunate enough to come by just enough. For this event the only money that is coming out of team funds is the registration fee. The other associated costs are coming from dedicated parents and mentors to caravan the students, robot and supplies to the event. It appears we may be the only SC team going, so lets go fellow SC teams and make a run for the border.

It looks like 342 might be able to make it. We are working out the details, but we can’t wait to see old friends. Just once I would like to see the burning flash of metal alliance:rolleyes: I guess I need to pull Burn-e out my garage and clean him up.

With only a couple weeks till the event are there anymore teams planning on attending? It is good to hear that 342 may be there. Unfortunately 343 will not be, so there will be no chance of “Burning Flash of Metal”. Maybe the “Burning Flash of Chimera”? I know there must be more teams coming then just 1261,1319,832,342 and 1771 does anyone know of anyothers? Will the event still happen with such a small number of teams? Looking Forward to it.

it is definitely on. other that are coming are Kell, Walton, Westminster just off the top of my head
