G3 Robotics Wins 2nd Place at Drone Prize 2014

Last week, a subset of the G3 Robotics team went to Portland, Oregon to compete at Drone Prize 2014, a competition where teams from various colleges, high schools, and professional organizations, showed how UAVs could be used to do social good. With a project based around using quadcopters for security and maintenance in Atlanta’s public transit, MARTA, the G3 team captured second place, and the hearts of the nation, winning the People’s Choice Award. The team won a 3D Robotics X8 Quadcopter, which they will use to further their involvement with MARTA and various other community organizations.
More info about the competition here.

:ahh: :yikes: lucky! I have a 3dr IRIS. You will love your x8, trust me!

Also, congrats!

Congrats to the gangsters from Atlanta!!

Please, who are these gangsters you speak of?

It looks like he just misspelled “Gangstaz” (I think it’s the third G in G3).

Absolutely. NO disrespect intended. I am an Atlanta native. I went to Northside Highscool in the stone age & we had a friendly rivalry with Grady. Always happy to see a hometown rival do well.

Actually, I was more talking about the rebranding effort of the team, which involved dropping all references to ‘Gangstaz.’

However, the G3 logo and brand is very central to team 1648, so it’s just known as G3 Robotics.

Well, 1648 will always be the Gangstaz of my heart :stuck_out_tongue:
