G49 Robot-Robot Interaction

ROBOTS may not attempt to POSSESS a GAME PIECE that is being POSSESSED by
another ROBOT.
Violation: PENALTY

This was just my thought on this, but when in the teleoperated part of the game; would you be able to hand a tube off to an alliance partner?

The rule just states that a robot may not attempt to possess a game piece that is being possessed by another robot. Does this rule out the fact of teamwork or handing off a tube to your partner in the scoring zone for your alliance?

You’d have to relinquish control, but you could hand it off by dropping it.

Think an Ultimate Frisbee handoff–short pass, could even be a dropped disk, but briefly neither party has control. Gives your opponents time to try to get in the way, if they’re so minded.

At least, that’s how I read it.

I wouldn’t take my word for it, but it sounds to me like they were just trying to keep people from stealing tubes from opponents. I would say you can probably pass tubes if you’d like. But what’s to keep you from just tossing it in front of your alliance partner if you can’t pass?

What good is tossing it in front of your alliance partner if they can’t pick up off the ground?

Most teams will design their robot to be able to pick the tube up off of the ground.

I’ll just have to post it on the FRC Q&A whenever it can be accessed. If anyone has a link to it, and wouldn’t mind posting it on here. I would be very thankful towards you.

Before the 84" rule, I would post “Don’t count on that”, but I think you’re probably close enough to right that you’ll do fine now.

The Q&A is up and running! a bit more Q than A at this point, though

Thank you very much, Eagle.

Only one slight problem, I don’t know My team’s FRC log in. Looks like i’ll have to wait until school tomorrow.
