Game Hints & Animatino of Years Past

Does anyone know where I can find the Game Hints and Animations from past years. I’m compiling an archive of past game animations and game hints so I can better analyze the game hints this year.

Right now I have:
- Game Animations 2003 - 2009
- Game Hint 2010 #1

2009 Clue # 1 is attached (significance was moonfish, theme of the game)

2009 Clue # 2 (Gave directions to the Zamboni factory, if I remember correctly)

Good Morning Teams,

Take your machine out of the shop on Colorado in
Paramount;
stop by and get connected on Central in Phoenix;
drive by and make a pickup on Minnetonka in Minnetonka;
then head to the field on Evergreen in Dover.

23 Days until Kickoff
See you then

I’ll edit with 2008’s

Edit:

2008 Hint 1
I actually don’t know if I have this on archive, but I think it’s the IR board. This was the hybrid mode that took place of autonomous.

2008 Hint 2 (this was the GPS coordinates of Copley Square, where in the middle was a tortoise and a hare, a race.)

"Greetings Teams:
42.349905
-71.076072
342.242026

Happy Holidays and GO TEAMS!"

2008 Hint # 3 (This was a word scramble, I forgot what it spelled.)

“FRC Game Hint 3
Vet hurdling FIRST tetra”

Edit 2:
Drive straight turn left (correct spelling of the anagram)

Drive Straight Turn Left

The Manual password was something like “Drive!?Straight!!Turn?Left!”
I forget what it actually was.

Game animations of 2003 - 2009 are all on YouTube.

2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009

If you can find 2007’s. I think there was a clue with a ringer in it as well as a spider leg, that would be the most interesting to me. But then again, I didn’t do FRC that year.

Edit:

VV Thanks Dave.

Huh, funny you should ask. I just uploaded full res versions of the game animations for 2003 through 2009 to YouTube yesterday. These are all uploaded from first-generation source files, and not copies from the broadcasts. They can be found here:

thanks Dave!

Very cool. Thanks!

Is linking to these YouTube videos on our website legal by FIRST copyright standards?

I read somewhere that we could also write “Used with permission of FIRST, NASA, and Havabanana Productions. (c) YEAR.” Is this true?

I said that those are the ones I have if anyone has earlier animations that would be nice, but the last one I’m looking for is from 2010

I dont even think thats even rendered yet…

Thanks does anyone else have them from the actual hints, not to offend but I don’t want to hear “this is from memory”

Shhhhhh I’m trying to trick dave!

It might not be rendered, but it definitely is rendering. How else would Dave be keeping his house warm?

There are no earlier versions. 2003 was the first year that the game was introduced with an animation.

The actual quote text is not from memory. The only one I have a doubt about is the interpretation of the second quote, not the second quote. Also I was right about the IR board, that was the 2008 Game hint #1

On the other hand, those game animations bring back good memories.

Edit (to recap)

2009 Hint 1: (Meaning: game theme, lunar)
Moon Fish Picture (see attachment above)

2009 Hint 2: (Meaning: Zamboni, ice game; Trailer)

I really could just tell you to use the search, I definitely did that to dig these up.

I believe that 2003 was the first year of game annimations.

As for hints…

2007 (closeup of tube on a spider)

2006: five 'bots tangling with pasta
a game piece obsessed with a shovel’s show
and seeing Montana’s green heights

5 referred to the backbot, pasta referred to bumpers
I forget how, but the second line referred to shooting
and Montana’s green heights implied camera use, as well as Joe Montana -> throwing

Those are the same hints that I have (hand)written down in my notebook. Also the same hints that are archived in our team’s forum, which are directly copy/pasted from the FIRST emails.

It did indeed point to a Zamboni factory. Also, Blip, the manufacturer of the Orbit Balls, is based out of Minnetonka (on Minnetonka Blvd).

Shovel = David Spade, his show = “Just Shoot Me”, so you’re shooting the balls.

I don’t think the Joe Montana thing was intentional, since they mentioned shooting the previous line.

i always thought the just shoot me reference was about the use of the camera since it was a show about a fashion magazine and the title was a play on words referring to cameras

Well, the line is “a game piece obsessed with a shovel’s show”. So it would make more sense that the game piece would be obsessed with being shot than it being obsessed with cameras.
