Game rule question

For G6 Section b inside the blue box states you cant move more than 5 power cells across one half of the field to the other. Does this mean you can’t move power cells back and forth on the field or you cant like push them back and forth?

emphasis mine

This is at one time, so multiple trips is cool

The way I interpret this rule:

Assuming in all cases, you are carrying 5 power cells, such that any other ball would violate this rule:

If you ram into a ball or two while crossing the field, and send them flying toward your goals, no penalty.

If you are herding a ball, ie. being careful to keep it in front of you as you take it to you destination, I’d say probably a foul, but there might be some small disagreement unless you are turning with the ball.

If the ball is on the ground, but trapped inside a mechanism outside the frame perimeter, foul.

Hopefully this helps clear this rule up?

This rule only applies to what you’re controlling at one instant, you’re free to shoot/reload/shoot/reload as often as possible during the match

Pretty simple actually if you hold/control 5 power cells at any moment …be careful… Other than momentarily action don’t move another, don’t hoard another either.

So if you have 5 carried be careful lest fouls and a possible Yellow IMO if you blatently ignore this rule

I think they’ve carefully reworded the rule to remove the ambiguity of the word “herding” which often appeared in past manuals. Whether or not some action was herding was horribly ambiguous.

I view this change as essentially the same as if they had defined “herding” from previously manuals’ game piece limit rules as “moving a ball across the field such that when the robot changes direction, the game piece travels with the robot”. So under my interpretation, what you describing would be a foul.
