Are we allowed to use gas shocks on the bot?
Yep -
R39:
Non-electrical sources of energy used by the ROBOT, (i.e., stored at the start of a MATCH), shall
come only from the following sources:
A. compressed air stored in the pneumatic system that has been charged in compliance with
R79 and R80,
B. a change in the altitude of the ROBOT center of gravity,
C. storage achieved by deformation of ROBOT parts,
D. closed-loop COTS pneumatic (gas) shocks, and
E. air-filled (pneumatic) wheels.
And remember to mount them rod-side down. There’s a bit of oil in there which serves as both lubricant and sealant where the tube and the rod meet, but it doesn’t do either if the shock is mounted horizontally or rod side up.
I get you’re new here, but please take a few minutes to read over the FAQ and take some time to observe the level of discussion here.
Now that google thing wasn’t quite nice of you! And I now know what a gas shock is, no thanks to you.
xoxoxo - With love, Alan
