We are reaching out to all teams sponsored by GE or any other its subsidiaries (GE Energy, GE Oil & Gas, GE Aviation, etc.).
Our team is located near a GE Energy Facility (~400 employees). We contacted them about possible sponsorship and they told us that everything is done through the corporate level opposed to local.
Does anyone know the process for this or who to contact. We appreciate any information or insight anyone can provide.
Our GE sponsorship is all handled at the local level. We have a mentor from our local GE facility that handles the whole thing though. However, the location that we are sponsored by is a recent addition to GE and the check we get still has the old name of the company on it. I don’t know if that makes a difference or not.
We have seen some teams in our area that seem to be solely funded by GE (their only sponsor listed at competitions, on t-shirts, etc.), we are nowhere near that level of support. But by going local and by having a mentor from the facility on board we get opportunities for plant tours and other things that might not be possible with a corporate level sponsorship.
We used to be sponsored through GE Volunteers, but that required a GE mentor in your program. Our GE mentor left the team, so technically GE is no longer a sponsor of our team, but we are looking for another GE mentor.
We have been working for years trying to crack into GE Aviation with no luck. We have mentors from GE, students on the team whose parents work there, one of our parents was a Director for Industrial Health and Hygiene for GE Aviation Globally and he wasn’t able to make a crack. Any insight or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
