During the competitions this weekend, whats the highest amount of tele op gears you consistently saw a team doing (and what team).
Not including auto. I only watched the Windham competition… but it seemed the highest seeds were able to do 3-4 in teleop.
Just wondering once we go to that second level of competitive play at the District Championships, what is it going to take to get to 5 or 6 teleop gears. I am predicting at some point fuel is going to come into play, so the other two robots are going to have to step it up.
At Palmetto some playoff teams were able to consistently able to get 6-7 and in some cases 8 gears per cycle. There was one 4 rotor match in the playoffs where team 283 got 8 gears by themselves and climbed…as a second alliance pick. Very impressive stuff.
As the human player for Team 283 I can confirm we were able to do 7 gears a match consistently with one semifinal match where we got 8. The 8 gear match we got all 4 rotors spinning because we out drove the 1st alliance defense. Lost in finals sadly to the Hawaiian Kids because our allaince captain flipped. My tip is have your human player practice loading into your robot to get as comfortable as possible.
We were able to get 6 gears in 2 of our matches, 5 gears in the majority of the others.
We ended up getting picked and lost by inches (of a climb) in the finals!
That is really fantastic. I’m curious as to how your team was still available to be picked (2nd pick) so late in the draft. Do you think people just missed your incredible gear abilities? Or were you less successful in in Quals and then cranked up the awesome for Elims?
Well Palmetto had a lot of teams in the top 8 who were decent and had great pairings. The problem was that most of them hadn’t done any scouting, so Eliminations was a real mess. Also the Gear mech we used in Elims we built throughout Friday. Our 3 matches Saturday morning we were able to get into the 7 gear rhythm. Lets just say Palmetto was quite the interesting event.
