Generator Switch and standard robot weight

I am aware the Generator Switch in this year’s game requires to be balanced in order to score an extra 15 points. This is going to be a challenge since having a similar weight with your alliance partners seems crucial in balancing; how does anyone suggest doing this? I personally thought of establishing a standard weight range with local teams during build season, but this could run into challenges (if everyone in the district does it, then the task of balancing the switch will be worth nothing) (and if only a few do it, you risk the chance of simply not getting allied with them until the final 8 get to choose.) Any thoughts?

Build light and bring ballast tbh

Are you allowed to change your weight during competition? (I am a fairly new frc member)

You can grab anywhere on the bar just grab farther out if your lighter and closer if your heavier

Yeah but that’s a physics problem you’d have to get right on the fly. I expect really aggressive teams will be able to shift laterally on the bar, but getting close enough in weight and just grabbing the ends is probably easier for the rest of us.

@Marian_yanka I’d imagine at most you’d need to be re-inspected.

Double climb off the center with a alliance robot on your side/back/front jutting out perpendicular to the bar like 118 last year.

Who would try that?

If you get inspected at 124.99 lb, with removable weights, reinspection won’t be necessary under I4F (emphasis mine):

additions, removals, or reconfiguration of ROBOT with a subset of MECHANISMS already inspected per I3.
