Hello all - Just to follow up on this thread further, they are also looking for event volunteers to serve during the event. If you are interested, please fill ou the form below.
Athena’s Warriors (from ct) is most likely interested…we’re not quite sure if we’ll be done building for it since we’re amping up our robot/rebuilding, but the appeal of the all girls even is very tempting…I’ll bring this up again at our next meeting since registration ends soon…just wanted to let you know!
What an awesome event! Everyone had a great time at this ground-breaking event, which I hope remains on the Philadelphia area landscape for a long time! And the competition was tough!
Many thanks to the Firebirds for creating this event, and to Mount Saint Joseph Academy for hosting it. Thanks to Don Bowers and Nate Knauss for the leadership and MC’ing - Don will have a hard time topping that performance! Thanks to the speakers, Carol Kauffman and Patricia DePra, for bringing the message! Most amazing was to see the great turnout from parents, family, and friends whose support is so incredible. The gym was filled with energy the whole day! Special thanks to our alliance partners, MOE 365 and The Firebirds Team 433! Thanks to all the teams for making this event so special!!
Thanks to the Firebirds for hosting the first girlPOWER competition. This event was really awesome. It is a really great thing to watch the robots compete on the field, and then to look behind the player’s station and see all female team members driving. For all the girls and teams that couldn’t come this year, you should definitely start clearing your calendars for next year.
Thanks to all the volunteers, thanks to all the inspiring guests, and a special thanks to Duckie from 365 for coming over, saying “what can I do to help” and then being my super scorekeeper.
This year was great. I’m glad I got to be part of it. Next year should be even better.
What an awesome up beat event this was. I just went as a spectator, for once, and had a great time. I definitely think that if the Fire Birds have this event again I will be bringing my girls. Thanks to 433 for hosting a wonderful event!
Thank you so much to everyone who came!
We really appreciate the help from all of the volunteers, as well as from our fellow teams who helped to make this event possible.
MOE would like to thank the Firebirds for hosting the girlPOWER event! It was a groundbreaking event and it was so fun!! All of the girls, mentors, and volunteers from MOE 365 had a great time! Congratulations on being on the winning alliance with MOE, and 709!
Everyone from MOE had an amazing time and we cannot wait until next year!! Thank you! Congratulations on the success of this event!
GO MOE!
Additional kudos to the teams as well for being so great about doing quick turnarounds for matches (since there were only 10 teams there)
Thanks to all the volunteers and family members that used their time and talents to help run the event, take down the field, and pack the truck. I only hope it goes as well at the Duel this weekend.
Loved 1218 donating “1219” for “The Orphans” (who took the 1st seed!) maybe we can get another spare bot or two next year so more team robot-less young women can participate.
I hope someone who had a camera (I did not this time) can post the “group photo” taken after the speach given pre-alliance selection.
If everything worked out right, I have attached the group photo. If not, I will try again. If you want a higher resolution image, let me know and I will send one directly to you as file sizes are limited on this site.
Special thanks to MOE mentors (Duckie, Mike, etc.) who stayed late to help us tear down the field. That was a huge help.
Thanks to Vulcan Robotics (1218) for the use of a second robot. It made a huge difference.
It was great to see RoboDoves make the long distance trip, Father Judge for involving the St. Hubert’s girls and all of the others who participated. We hope to make this an even better event next year. As soon as dates are finalized, there will be an announcement made on Chief Delphi
