Well, now that we know what the game is, it appears that scouting will indeed play a role this year, especially when it comes time to select teams for the elimination matches. In an attempt to ease the scouting load on teams, especially at the national competition, the GMCIA is returning for 2001. For those of you who are not familiar with the project, GMCIA is a cooperative scouting system, with multiple teams gathering information to be shared among all teams. It also includes an Intranet system at the national competition, allowing for multiple people to access the data simultaneously. Also, there is the capability to enter information using any Palm OS device.
If you are interested in participating with this project for 2001, please e-mail me at [email protected]. There is also an e-mail mailing list that you can subscribe to by sending an e-mail to [email protected]
See you at the competition!

When doing this scouting system, make sure to keep in mind that there are 4 division at the national. So the system will have to be divided into 4 part. And maybe some one or some team in each division should make sure each part of the system get filled with informations about their division’s teams since this game require so many communication. I will hate to see if only one or two divisions get fully use of this scouting system while the others don’t.

Without knowing what teams will be in what divisions, I obviously can’t guarantee that the teams participating will be divided in such a way that there is sufficient coverage of all divisions, but I was looking into adding to the system a way to specify which division each team is a part of, and then the division to be searched could be specified when looking for allies. More information will be coming as we prepare the system for the 2001 Competition…
