Hi guys! It is your good friend Erin from Team 1.

My team and I have donated some of the extra space we have in the pits’ to Nate’s scouting database. I never knew that there were so many teams interested!! So I was wondering how many more teams are interested that haven’t signed up yet. If I get a few more people interested I would be willing to bring another hub down to Florida to connect up a few more teams. What do you think Nate? Do you think they are interested?

hey erin…well, I’ve but a question to ask…this GMCIA scouting thing…is only nate’s team going to be entering data into it? Because…every team’s (not to mention every scout’s) ratings for everything are subjective and may totally throw all the data off…what do you think? Take for example our speed scale…instead of cars, nate, we have 1-5…where take for example CD would be a 3 and Bomb Squad would be a 4…wouldn’t discrepancies between the really large amount of teams involved in GMCIA kinda…make the database inaccurate? Or am I totally missing something???

Mike,

I dunno the answer to your questions… but,

If I were to rank the speed of 188’s robot, I’d put down a 6 on a scale from 1-5.

Out of both the Great Lakes and Midwest Regionals, your team’s bot is the fastest.

In making the standard form for use by the GMCIA teams while gathering data, I have tried to make it as objective as possible…for example, no longer is a human player poor, average, or great…rather, the form specifically asks how many shots they attempted vs. how many went in. The subjective nature of some scouting reports(including our own original one) is what lead me to do this to have as consistant of a data set as possible.

To all teams:

While I have tried getting in contact with FIRST in order to secure a specific location for the GMCIA setup, I have not yet recieved a response. While I understand that they are busy with the regional events, I am starting to think that we may have to come up with our own setup once we get down there. Team 1, always being at the end of a row and therefore having extra space next to their pit, has offered some of their space for us to use, however, if we go this route, this may mean that we will not have enough power available for every team to plug in, as well as we will not have any tables! I will be continuing my efforts to contact FIRST in the next few days to see about getting a location to set up, however, if I am unsuccessful, I would greatly appreciate donations of tables from any team that will not be using them for whatever reason. Thank you, and see you in Florida!
