GNU GRUB Question

Ok, I have successfully (sp?) reformatted, and reinstalled Windows 98 Second Edition (:D). Now, my problem arises again. When I powerup the computer, I still seem to get the GRUB bootloader. Does anyone know howto get rid of this? I’ve read here to run FDISK /MBR from Windows to boot Windows

12. How to uninstall GRUB from my hard disk drive?
There is no concept uninstall in boot loaders, because if you uninstall a boot loader, an unbootable machine would simply remain. So all you need to do is overwrite another boot loader you like to your disk, that is, install the boot loader without uninstalling GRUB.

For example, if you want to install the boot loader for Windows, just run FDISK /MBR on Windows. If you want to install LILO (I can’t imagine why you want to do such a thing, though), run /sbin/lilo on GNU/Linux.

Is there any success stories with this or something?

My problem is getting to the command prompt to enter it now. Before I could because my recovery CD couldn’t really run, but now it can. Any ideas?

“fdisk /mbr” will obliterate grub. The “fdisk /mbr” overwrites the current bootsector with a default MS-DOS (or Windows 9x) one. Grub cannot survive it; nor can a bootsector virus. You are not really uninstalling grub, rather replacing it.
