Golden Rule #5: Fail Faster

This took quite a bit of trust to do 7 days before out first competition, yet far better than finding out something wasn’t robust enough at competition!

Does your team do this?

The Wall Test is an important diagnostic tool.

Yikes. Good catch.

We try to a little bit, but finding an area suitable enough is tricky. We did smash our radio mount in a practice match, so in a sense yes!

Got glue or ziptie those connectors, especially ones that might unplug from a high speed collision. 2017 taught teams a lot of things but those lessons may be fading.

We definitely noticed that the “Dual Lock” was wildly insufficient for keeping the RoboRio in place – time to screw it down.

Yup!! Tells you how strong the wall is!

Tried it, evidently weaker than the robot

Tuesday was our first real drive practice (breaking another rule) with this years bot days before our first comp.
Operator was a little timid to raise elevator while at full speed so we could amp cycle faster. Asked him to try and it was fine…until we hit the wall full speed with it up.
Silver lining? We found a vulnerability that would have been exposed in competition. Or at least that’s how I rationalized it to our mechanical sub team
