Good endmill

Hi our team has a CNC router laguna iq and we are looking for good endmill, we need endmills
6/6.35mm diameter and 3mm diameter but our main requirement is that we can use it at high speeds so we can finish our manufacturing week soon as possible

End mills are generally for low-speed spindles. A router needs a router bit, designed to operate at high (rotational) speeds, 8000 rpm and above.

These ones are good, if you live in USA the shipping can be an issue.

These endmills are essentially the same thing, cost more but ship reliably.

I have personally ran both of these with high success in 0.125 - 0.25 in thick 6061 aluminum. All plastics cut very nice.

For Adaptive/Pocketing toolpaths 60-100 ipm with a 0.06 in stepover, Full DOC, and mist coolant

For Finishing, 30ipm on critical dimensions, 80 ipm for “shiny” non critical faces… 0.02 stepover full DOC.

Edit: Machine = Omio X8 | Spindle speed = 24,000 rpm

Are Ozzy Boards still selling because I went to their contact us and still haven’t gotten a reply

These are the best bang for the buck we’ve found, and we run them almost exclusively. The WCP ones are nicer but also cost more so depending what your budget is there are many good options

The critical feature for cutting aluminum with a router is that the bit be of single-flute design with “upcut” helix to clear chips from the cut zone. This design will allow reasonably thick chips to be produced and cleared while running at router RPMs and a manageable feed rate for machines in the price range FRC teams might pay. Different manufacturers and retailers use different names for these bits. Onsrud calls them “cutters”. Amana calls them “router bits”. Harvey Tool calls them “end mills”. Westcoast Products calls them “endmills”. A site like Alibaba will have descriptions that look like “end mill router bit milling cutter CNC tool” so regardless of what you call it, you’ll likely find something. The description in the Amazon listing just above this post provides a similar word salad.

Pay more attention to the design features of the bit and recognize that it might be called a number of different things.

We’ve got some over at Thriftybot and a few more sizes are on their way, should have them soon -

These look fantastic. I have some potential router projects coming up, and plan to snag some of these. Do these 4mm tools come in a shorter flute length? An 8mm would be sweet.

I can definitely look into stocking that. 5mm and 6mm diameters are en route now.
