Google Wave

I’ve got 14 invites, PM me if you’d like one.

I think that Wave has the potential to be a great collaboration tool once the community grows. It’s never going to replace e-mail, but I think that it’s really neat.

I too would love an invite, i know they are going to go fast to please pm me if you have one to spare.

I have 8 invites. . PM me if you want one. . .

I think it will become a great tool once more addon’s and features are added

I also have 8 invites if people want them.

Whenever I open wave, my computer really bogs down so I can’t leave it open like I do gmail. Also waves take forever to sync, making real time edits really difficult. Once some of these things get sorted it will be more useful, but for now email and chat work better.

I have 20 Wave invites, if anyone wants one, please send me a pm with an email.

You’ve been holdin’ out on me man

I have had Gwave for a about a month now and am liking it somewhat, it helps to have people to use it with. (Which most people at work have it). It also helps for people to use it.

In the future it could have a huge possibility, plus it could be difficult to get everyone to jump on the bandwagon of getting a wave account. So far it is mainly people that are interested it, or have some technical background(that I know of that use it) not many are to gun ho about getting involved yet.

Plus being that it is in Preview, it keeps reminding me about that, Google does have a lot to do before they should release it. It could also help to have more extensions and USEFUL apps instead of 5 of the same kind that let you create a poll or something.

There is definitly potential just there is some work to do with getting it to be fully released which I don’t see for a couple of years down the road. Just think about how long gmail was in beta, lets see if wave will beat it.

I think it would be much better if you could include people who only have regular email also – Then you could email them and include them in the conversation, eventually they would have to get Wave, based upon the assumption that since Wave is more like IMing they would get way behind in their replies.

I don’t know about you guys, but I prefer my Waves in robotics teams than in Google applications.

My school’s Battlebots team uses it to colloaborate, share designs, specifications, etc. I really haven’t figured out how to optimally use it.

Haha, the whole “email a wave” idea made me think about what would happen if you were sent an email for each update. That would be funny to see!

I don’t use it much for real use, but for casual group chat it’s fine

I believe that just like Gmail, Gtalk (in Gmail), Facebook, and Twitter that it will become more popular and used instead of e-mail.

For me personally gtalk in gmail has replaced the need for having a dedicated instant messaging client like Aim, Yahoo, or MSN.

The biggest problem Google Wave faces right now is the fact that no one has Google Wave accounts. My guess is that in the future Google Wave will be able to communicate with e-mail clients but wont be able to take advantage of its fully feature set. This will allow for people to fully switch over to google wave as their main form of communication rather then typical e-mail. or there is the possibility that all gmail accounts could be turned into google wave account and then you have a huge user base.

Just a note here is a tutorial on using twitter in Google Wave:

With all of these recent wave invites, surely we can have a live kickoff discussion?

If we are going to have a wave kickoff discussion (count me in), can someone create a new thread so this one isn’t clogged up.

I would definitely like to jump into the wave discussion if possible. My username is: rharo.jr

Username is burmeister.twosevennine. Please add me everybody, i’d also like to participate in a kickoff wave, and I have 18 invites for anyone who wants one.

I’ve set up a (kinda small) Kickoff wave. The people who posted their usernames SHOULD be in it. If not, can you tell me?
