Who get their robot back already? we JUST got ours!! I can’t wait to open it up and play with it! it is like a second Christmas!!!
Our robot is waiting for us in São Paulo, the largest city in the country, where we’ll make an appearance on national TV, next Monday. It’s gonna be huge!
Ours is back. Sitting in my classroom as I type. It made it back Friday morning in time forthe spring pep rally. The team unpacked it in a hurry, rigged up a portable powersupply for the controls so that we could run it around outside without a tether. We showed it off to the whole school and even ran it around inside the locker rooms so everyone could get a good look. As a rookie team it was great to be able to show everyone what we’d been working on for so long.
Our robots brain got sacrificed back to the battlebot as soon as it arrived back (they needed a spare for competition and we had taken it from them when ours was stolen) so its just sitting in a corner with no life, but his brain will be back soon for playtime.
Oddly enough I was told our pneumatic hooks also went with the battlebot as a secondary weapon, hehe those were way over engineered. SO if you happen to see the university of Tulsa battlebots team on TV anytime look for our hooks snappy snappy
GO TU!

Ours has been here for a while. Can’t remember when though…
ours got back last wednesday. but we are doing a demo tomorrow at for a possible team for next year
wow, our robot came back like, 4 days after nats. i haven’t seen it yet, mostly because i’ve been busy with APs. they were running it yesterday though, and i heard that the compressor and some other parts weren’t working…
luckily, we have an old compressor we can toss on if need be. i just fear what the freshmen might have done to it yesterday.
Got ours back yesterday. The top of the crate was totally smashed in, but the robot its self was okay.
Has anyone else noticed how beat-up the crates tend to be upon their return (both at events and originating locations)?
W got our crate sponsored by a graphic company, so it was real nicely spraypainted and generally very stable, so we didn’t have any problems at all.
our team is still waiting for our budy. I am wondering what take them so long??? maybe because we live in Toronto, Canada???
we drove home with fluffy because that monday we had the TV stations come out.
THEO returned Monday, just in time for demos Thursday and Friday…
Ok. you think your crates are beaten up when they arrive? Last year, our robot came back with large hole on several sides where the forlift had simply run into it. THe worst part was, there were hole in the same position on top top! that means they had the crate turned upside down and were jamming the forkilift into it! It also came back filthy and with water dammage on the top where they had put it upsdie down and it had goten wet. we were really not thrilled with thier treatment our our robot.
This year we wrote the following on the bottom of our crate to prevent any confusion:
The crate is upside down DUMMKOPF!!
Turn it over IDIOT!!
it came back totally undammaged. i guess that worked.
we had ours for about three weeks ago. but we didnt go to nats so we got ours early.
It’s even worse when you show up in orlando and your crate is destroyed, try getting a bunch of plywood into epcot tied to the top of a little rental car. We walked to our pit that first morning and our drill press was sticking our the side of the crate, we wernt happy campers, and that drill press has never worked right since!

We had a drill press destroyed, but it wasn’t destroyed by the crate movers; it was destroyed by our principal and assistant principal. When we were moving to our new building, they decided to “help out” in moving some things. The two of them tried to carry our drill press, and dropped it. It fell end-over-end, and the motor part hit the ground. It hasn’t worked since.
Anyways, more on topic, we have our robot back, too. It came in the middle of last week, I think. There was no damage to it or the crate. We have a giant “Fork Here” written on the side, so it’s pretty hard to mess up with our crate. We did this because a few years ago, some handlers forked it wrong, and broke all the casters. Now, there’s no doubt about how to fork our crate.
We got Ed back sometime Monday.
Because our school has no loading dock, it gets droped off at teh Fairfax County Government Center. So after school, a few go down, load it into Mr. Fletcher’s truck, and bring it back.

Now we have a robot again.
mwhahahahahaha..
:D
I’m wondering how many people had
“Some Settling during Shipping” ??
We arrived at the comeptition to find that our robot had been “tweaked” by the shippers.

If you’ve seen our robot, you know that piece is supposed to be a triangle on the top of the robot.

The best we can theroize it, the flipped the crate, and dropped it, so that all 130 pounds of the bot came crashing down onto itself.
Hard. Very Hard.
Thank god we had a spare of the piece. Our only casutily of the Nationals was shipper induced.
We had a pretty unique case. We “borrowed” one of the international shipping containers our sponser company uses. It’s waterproof, and padded. We just strapped it to a pallet and we had an instant waterproof, FIRST approved shipping crate.
Here at team 25 we are getting really concerned because our machine has not shown up yet and we have the Pa. Robotics Challenge on Saturday. I don’t know what to do if it doesn’t appear except use onew of our old robots designed for a different game.
The horror stories I hear from some of you are giving me even worse ideas…
AAAArrrrgggghhhhh!

Our crate got back yesterday. It is sitting in the hallway next to our so called robotics room. (My closet is bigger) I don’t even think most of the team knows its back yet!?!?!?! Anyways, it will be fun to play with it and show the school what we can do.
