Grabbing an alliance robot to balance

I was wondering who was going to try grabbing onto an alliance robot to balance the bridge. What areas do you plan to grab onto? Are you using claws? magnets? ect.

Is this a viable strategy or not?

Figured I would get the conversation going

what do u mean “grab onto another robot”?

Honestly I don’t think so, according to the manual you cannot touch inside an alliance’s robot frame perimeter or other alliance’s robot inside the bumper zone or on the actual frame itself.

From this I don’t think that this would be a viable strategy.

It say opponents robot an alliance robot is not an opponent so your rule does not apply

I edited my message maybe that will add better clarification.

**[G27] **
Deliberate or damaging contact with an opponent Robot on or inside its Frame Perimeter is not allowed. Violation: Technical-Foul and potential Yellow Card. [T34] Do not connect or attach to another Alliance member.

It appears that bumpers are still allowed for an alliance robot.

If you are going to quote a rule quote the whole rule

T34
Devices used solely for the purpose of planning or tracking strategy of game play are allowed inside the Alliance Station, if they meet all of the following conditions:

Do not connect or attach to the Operator Console
Do not connect or attach to the Court or Arena
Do not connect or attach to another Alliance member
Do not communicate with anything or anyone outside of the Arena.
Do no include any form of enabled wireless electronic communication (e.g. radios, walkie-talkies, cell phones, Bluetooth communications, WiFi, etc.)
Do not in any way affect the outcome of a Match, other than by allowing Players to plan or track strategy for the purposes of communication of that strategy to other Alliance members.

Attaching to an alliance member in this rule is about tracking game play and strategy not attaching to aid in balancing…

Doesn’t he want to grab other robots for Strategy?

The purpose of T34 is for scouting and stuff like that, not to limit teams from being able to interact with their alliance on the field. And it says “INSIDE THE ALLIANCE STATION” robots are not inside the alliance station.

Therefore this should be possible to do. It appears to not be against any rules in this case.

It would be awesome to see a team that can drag robots grab a dead alliance partner bot and get it on the bridge and score like that.

It may be the only time we ever see a useless robot become useful.

I don’t think there is any kind of glue that will cure fast enough for it to be very effective… Though Inventables does have some giveaway adhesives for FRC teams that are pretty newfangled…

Agreed, but what kind of power would that take? The drive train and grabber on the robot doing the dragging would have to be able to maneuvre at the very least two robots (maybe more if the dead robot is dead because the drive train locked up for whatever reason) effectively. That robot would indeed be the robot to have on an alliance however.

Yes that would be a good use. But I was thinking more in terms of using it to help from falling off of the end of the bridge if your three robots are too long and dont quite fit on.

it was a good idea of a claw or atleast a hook to hang onto each other but not many teams will be up for having anther team attach something to the inside of the robot because the chance for error is to high
