After a very successful and full event last year, on Feb. 14 (yes…V day…but hey…we all know our FIRST robot is our true Valentine…), Team 469 is offering to open up our practice field to FIRST teams that would like to test out their robot(s) before the shipping/bagging deadline on the 17th.
This would take place from noon until 6pm and is open to any FIRST team. The location is in Auburn Hills, directly across from the Pontiac Silverdome off of Opdyke at Android Industries. 2155 Executive Hills Blvd.
This is an informal event. We are offering our practice field and the limited resources of our machine shop and engineering services to help get your robot in tip top shape before shipping/bagging.
Just a few things:
Please limit the number of students and mentors attending. While it’s nice and exciting to see the practice event, and I’m sure a lot of team members would like to attend, we have limited space and 10-12 teams with many members is just too much…we hope you understand…
There will be a safety presentation for the facility as well as a brief tour at 12:15. We would like to go through this once so we would ask if you would like to attend, please be there at that time.
You must wear safety glasses at all times, so please bring them.
Due to confidentiality at our host location, photography will not be allowed. We have our team photographer who is authorized to take pictures inside the facility if you would like to have any pictures taken.
We have some forms that need to be filled out and some insurance things to get organized with your team before you can attend (and this could take a couple of days). So, the sooner you contact me, the sooner we can get the simple process going.
Ai has graciously let us into their facility, and agreed to open it up to other FIRST teams as long as we follow these few rules. Thank you for your understanding.
If you wish to join us, or have any questions, please have a team representative contact me (PM or [email protected]). We request that all requests be in by Feb. 10th to give us time to plan the event. We would probably limit the number of teams to 10-12.
We had a tremendous turn-out last year and have already be asked by several teams to join us again this year…so if you are really interested, contact me asap…
We also request that teams bring as many orbit balls as they can. We have a few, but we have a feeling that some might get broken during the event and we would like all teams joining to share this “design challenge”.
Thanks…
Team 469 and our Orbit Ball Angel
