Happpy 125th Birthday to the Automobile !

125 years ago, on January 29, 1886, Carl Benz changed the world when he filed a patent application (number 37435) for his “gas engine-powered vehicle” with the Reich Patent Office in Berlin. This marked the birth of the automobile.

Daimler AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz cars, will celebrate this remarkable birthday at an official celebration this Saturday, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel as our guest of honor, taking place in the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart/Untertuerkheim.

Kind of amazing, to me at least, how far the technology has gone in 125 years, yet how many of the fundamentals remain unchanged.
