Happy 1108 Day!

It is here again, Happy 1108 Day (Nov 8th)!

We had a good day greeting our elementary students, having a robotics lunch (special school lunch menu), and then an ice cream social.

Some alums reached out to wish us a good day, which was a nice touch.

Again, we celebrated National STEAM Day, and hope everyone also was able to celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics today!

Here is our last 1108 day thread from 2019: Happy 1108 Day!

Wow! Never thought to have a day after our number! And we are also an 11__ number! Let’s see when 11/53 is coming up- oh wait…

In all seriousness, this seems great and now I want something like this for our team

Nice to see other 1100 teams around. We are getting to be rarer, this is our 21st season as well.

My tries were having a 1-15 3pm party. Or equating the 53rd Day of November to be December 23rd (Christmas Eve Eve).

Ooh, that would be good. We do have a team tradition to all ask what the time is at 11:53. This is giving me plenty of ideas, thank you!

Your team’s number is interesting because it sometimes an Election Day in the US. Like today.

My team’s number parses out to March 6th, 2020. We were competing in qual matches at our home event, not yet suspecting that the rest of the FRC season would be cancelled a few days later. So, 3620 was Ignorance Is Bliss Day.

I think we ended up with a fairly special number in that regards, especially learning it was National STEM Day, also.

We also recognize different happening at 11:08am, and while traveling for competition 11:08pm is our curfew/lights out time (though you can go to bed earlier).

My birthday, May 14th, is also sometimes Mother’s Day.

My team (1155) has a tradition of saying 1155 in our discord channels at 11:55 AM and PM every day when people remember. When the NYC FRC discord opened up last year, we also started doing it on that server. Now, there are other NYC teams that sometimes do it more consistently than our own members do it. Unfortunately, we share the same problem as 1153, November just doesn’t have enough days in it.

Signed, 1197.

I would have thought November could just take over for December, but now I’m thinking that we all know that October is out of place anyhow, so the year could go September, November, December. Then November 55th would be currently November 24th, or as call it Thankful for 1155 Day! You should consider having turkey and gravy.

To add on to the idea presented by @ngreen , If November were to continue its conquest and annex September and December as well, you could convert 1197 to what would end up being December 6th.

It would be fantastic having the months go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11

I’m also on board with only prime months: 1, 3, 5, 7, 11

I hereby state that Team 179, The Children of the Swamp, shall abandon the inferior american way of doing dates and embrace our international counterparts. This will go into effect on the 17th of September henceforth known as 179 day.

There is no ulterior motive to this change in opinion. We will be taking no questions.
