Happy Fathers day to all the dad and grandads in FIRST. Many of you act as second fathers while still having your own kids in FIRST, or don’t have any of your own in it at all!
Thanks for mentoring!

Thank you to my extended FIRST Family and Happy Fathers Day to all! I am playing LEGO’s with my daughters this afternoon building the next LEGO Space model.. My youngest daughter suggested driving up to Manchester NH again for the day, over 6 hours one way! (We have been going frequently for a family member recovering from heart surgery @Catholic Medical) Gotta love them for thinking about me/FIRST!
Thanks Akash
One of my favorite mentors during my 4 years of FRC fits the OP’s description… his daughter was one of the founding members of the team as a freshman and that’s how he got started as an electrical mentor. He taught me many skills (soldering especially) and inspired me to excell.
His daughter was still on the team when I was a freshman but graduated during my 3 year tenure; however, her dad stayed as a mentor and currently still is a mentor on the team. As he told me, “I here because I want to be here, not because of my daughter.” In my eyes, this is one of the reasons why I respect him so much to this day.
To all the dads in FIRST, happy (belated) Fathers day!
Thank You everyone.
