Has anyone actually gotten a yellow card for playing the circle game?

Just wondering.

No, because if they saw it, they would have lost. They don’t want to admit that they lost.

It’s times like this that I miss the spotlight button.

We might or might not have it painted on the bottom of our driver station’s controller

Not once.

We did it a few times to the announcer, no problems

if someone at a FIRST event seriously believed that the circle game stood for “white power” I’d have problems. It’s a sport designed to educate people. If they think that’s what the game stands for, FIRST has failed to elevate their intellect.

We may or may not have put the symbol on the underside of our robot at our first event.
We also may or may not have been called out by the Head Ref to take it off.
Again, entirely hypothetical.

We have a team finger sign going back to our first year involves making an OK-sign (which looks like 3 sixes). The one time some people did it, no one said anything but it wasn’t exactly visible.

Are circles above the waist considered part of the “circle game”?

This whole thing is ridiculous.

lol… I wouldn’t even know what to look for. It would be harder to call than a G20 penalty :>

Can a robot have a waist? Because we still had a talking to.

Just say it’s the okay hand to show that your robot is okay and doing well.

the funniest thing is that it started on 4chan, where someone on (i think) /b/ posted an image explaining it stood for White Power. The rest of (i think) /b/ posted it on (i think) mostly Tumblr, but Facebook and Twitter too.

Close enough, right?

I know this is funny to a lot of you or “just a meme”, but white power symbols whether intentional or done under the guise humour are actually terrifying for people of colour. So please understand that you may be having fun with your game, while others are being reminded just how unwelcoming the world can be.

It’s not a white power symbol. If you think the ok hand is a white power symbol I don’t even know what to say.

I’m sorry I don’t have time to sort through your various hate symbols.

This looks like a thoughtful and reasonable discussion and definitely not loaded in any way. (Mods lock this pls before this thread becomes a dumpster fire)
