I was wondering if anyone has done any robot vision programming using cameras such as the CMUcam or anything else. I am currently learning how to program it and would like to know if anyone else had tried to use vision systems on their robots. This does not have to be on a FIRST robot, but on any kind of robot.
Well we have fooled around with mounting cameras etc. on our practice bot. I don’t know if anyone members the x8 cameras or w/e they were called they’re fairly small cameras that are mounted on a servo allowing them to pivot and move, the video feed is then transmitted back on a separate frequency. surprisingly the camera doesn’t require too much power and controlling it wasn’t to hard. we powered the bot with left over fischerprice motors from 2001 used a central mounted caster in the back, we didn’t do it for show heh we also fooled around by with a mounted spotlight i pulled off a boat that was headed for the dump it helps when you run the robot in dark places. Some of the other students used it to inspect underneath a boat house they had.
Also there is one team at the UTC regional i know uses a video camera on the field i want to say its (Rosie Robotics) but I’m not 100% sure i have a faint memory of a rosie cam i believe so you might want to talk to them.
the team you are thinking about is 782 the Kilowatts… =D
