We have a tradition of using obscure movie quotes to name our robot.
The names do err on the side of being uncouth if you know where they came from, but I can live with that.
Last year, the name was Uncomfortable Hunk of Metal.
This year, it is Charlie Foxtrot.
Go Dukes!
I saw Dr. J on the Webcast and I would love to show my team some pictures of it, but you guys have yet to post any.
It is so much like a design our team almost built and it works so nicely that Iâd love to see pics if you can direct me to them.
Thanks in advance!
We named are newest team member Arm N Ra The Ra Venger.
See Ya At Nationals
Ours is Fast Eddie III, although right now heâs Fat Eddie III due to weight issues, but thatâll be sorted out! (Hopefully :S)
we went boring for the 7th year in a row and we are Captain Krunch VII
shadow clawww!!! with the hand
story is long, mentors didnât like it, but boy did it stick! speaking of which one of our mentors is getting âshadow clawâ tattooed on his stomach!
what one does!
ha! thats not all that badunkadunk meansâŚ
yeah i know thats why i clarified where we got it from so the moderators wouldnât get mad at me again
Our robot is officially MILDREAD 4 (Our school is St. Mildreds) but every year it gets a different, unofficial name.
This year, it was decided at about 23:00 on Monday before ship date that it should be âBig Bad Bessie.â
Which it is. Unofficially. But sheâs Bessie in our hearts.
Officially, our follow up to the Bobcat 2004 isâŚthe Bobcat 2005
But I decided we needed a more original name, so Iâve dubbed it âGertrude.â This is mostly on account of one of our engineers referring to our base as Gertrude while demonstrating a concept that I donât remember.
Our robotâs name is officially Tyr because this god was one armed, like our robot this year.
Our robot this year is named CopperHead, take a guess why

and for bonus points, guess subject our head high school teacherâs masters degree.
Ummm⌠I think we unofficially named our Robot âPedroâ
but if the mentors donât like it we just stick with âBeachbotâ
We named ours Big Bertha. Our robot is the biggest you can make it so we came up with Big Bertha.

I thought youâd name it something like âthumperâ, due to its classic auton.
I thought this yearâs internal name was âThe Fingerâ
Like how we refered to last yearâs bot as âThe Washing Machineâ
2003 was âThe Winnebagoâ
2002 was the âMinifridgeâ
2001 is the only one anybody actually calls the Bobcat for some reason. The practice bot that year was âPetuniaâ
We also have the âHexorcistâ from 96 I think.
All these refer to either what it looked like to us or in the case of this year a mechanism that we just latched on to.
This year we named our robot the Housywhereâsit. Itâs a play on last years name Housywhatâsit, though it doesnât have the same ring to it. We finally are off naming our robot Reggie. (We named our first robot Reggie after Region 1 and it stuck for three years.) It got fairly confusing especially when we brought two robots to an off season.
We like to incorporate word play that has a connection to our team into our Robot names. Any suggestions are welcome for next years robot.
Weâll see you in Hartford:)
Working with a common theme within this years robotics competition, we decided to name our robot âCautionâ (or as we like to call it, PMFH (Parking Metre From Hell).

Nice try. We donât name the robot (even unofficially) until AFTER at least one competition, preferably the whole season, and then it gets some name or other like âPleciboâ or âTankâ (2001 and 2002). And where did this name âPedroâ come from?
