How many car washes do think this will take??? Team 1902 Exploding Bacon is ready to come to Hawai’i. Awesome job getting this regional set up and expanding FIRST.
People here thought it was incredible when San Diego filled up in days. I predict that Hawaii will fill in hours. Hmmm Atlanta or Hawaii? So many hard choices.
It would be an appropriate place for the BeachBots to go and we’d finally get to play with our long time friends on 368 on their home turf.
Way to go gang

After surviving a Houghton, MI winter with its 200" of snow annually … I’d say Hawaii would be looking pretty good!
Congrats! I cry foul though. All the Hawaiian teams are going to have a serious advantage in next years water game!
oh, thats so cool. It would be really nice to go to Hawaii for my last year in robotics.
Congratulations! This should be a great event.
I think if we don’t sign up for this regional, my team would never forgive me.
As long as the stars line up and we can swing the funding, 341 will be there!
Good luck this year and next!!
Hawaii is booming with robotic competitions. Next year’s Botball Championship will be in the Aloha State as well.
I think you mean this year’s (2007) Botball Championship, not next year’s.

We’re very excited over here on the Big Island! We still have interisland airfare/hotel/transportation but that still beats the $$$ to the Mainland. We might be able to attend two regionals for the first time or maybe even the Nationals which have been out of reach for us and our budget. It should help Mainland teams to appreciate what great lengths we have to go through to get a team across the pacific to a Mainland regional. Thank you McKinley for representing all our Hawaii teams with the Governor on Wednesday…we were with you in spirit! See you in San Jose!
Eureka! My time machine has worked! I’m browsing Chief Delphi in the year 2007! Now that NSF grant is a lock for sure!
No problem, Waiakea! We’re just as excited as you are. By next year, the Superferry should be running and you can bring your own transportation (see if they’ll sponsor you and get you here for free heh).
We’re also excited to show the rest of the FIRST community that GP exists everyday here and is affectionately known as the Aloha Spirit!
We are excited as well! That means, one trip to the East Coast, one Hawaii regional, and then hopefully championships for the price of 2!
Team 25: We expect you folks to come since we’re going to NJ this year…hehehe…
It’s funny that everyone calls them “hawaiian” shirts? We call them “aloha” shirts…
Aloha!!!
Finally, the ultimate Regional Competition to volunteer for.
I can’t wait to see what the team social will be.
Hawai’ian Social = Luau!
Trust me, we’re all very excited to have you guys here in NJ. We’ll have a ball! And about Hawaii–you’ll have to bug my mentor–his CD name is Wayne C.
(dodges death glance)
Team 151 was at the Kickoff and spoke with Dean Kamen and with Governor Linda Lingle about this idea. It sounds like the door will be open to a limited number of veteran teams. We are interested in the idea.
I hope the limit isn’t too low. The number of veteran teams in Hawaii, however, is relatively small so we’re in the beginning stages of ramping up our recruitment efforts for new teams here.
Being a new NASA sponsored regional, I assume as like this season, that perhaps there will be 10 veteran grants and 10 rookie grants offered. We shall see!
We’d love to come and play in Hawaii.
We planned on making a trip to the midwest next year though, so we’ll see
It’s nice to see FIRST spreading throughout the US. O love to go next year time to start saving.
An excuse to visit my heritage? Sounds good to me!
