Ok, well here’s the story. I was walking to the bus stop today and found a perfectly good Roomba Red in the trash. So being my trash picking self, snagged it, however forgot to grab any cords that would be needed for it. So what my question is what do I need to get this bot running?
If it’s not broken, all you need to make it run is to charge the battery, press the Power and Start buttons and watch it wander. For more info on what you can do with these little turtles, Google “roomba hacks”. I just clean with ours.
So, on the iRobot website, i would just need to pick up a APS battery charger for 39.99?
Well, I mean, you need to consider there is probably a reason it was in the chance. Just charging it and pressing the on button ad watching it go would probably be a very lucky occurrance. But anyhow, nice find!
2 words…Roomba Frogger
I loled
so, I recently decided to ditch the whole buy a charger route and I am no trying to make it run of a vex micro controller, I mean what could be more fun than controlling the robot vacuum in your room?
not much… I could have fun pestering my dog with that… or hiding a camera in it and scaring the living daylights out of my family… hmm…
Hey everyone, just an update on the project… IT’S DONE!
The Roomba, now “Voomba” runs off 4 vex servo motor boards (I took off the motor in the motor module and stole the little “speed controllers” off them, and is all powered by the VEX Control system.
I will be posting pics of the completed build soon, and may add some things to it, like a claw to move my dirty socks! (brilliant!)
If anyone is interested in how I did it just post here or PM me.
A picture can be found here http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/26747?
We would be interested with a picture of the inside. . .
Sure, I’ll take one tonight, and show you how I did it.
you need to get the dock to charge. Then it should work fine
He doesn’t need the dock for that.
