Help - new interface, old servos

hey guys and gals. my partner and i have been trying to use the nw interface for the 2005 frc with the old servos from the robovation kit. the servos have a 4 pin connector with black, red, yellow and orange wires. however the new interface had a 3-pin connector with labels for a black, red and yellow/white pins at the relay outputs. the 4th-pin from the servo is the orange wire, which isnt labeled on the interface, and it makes the 4-pin connector from the servo too wide to connect onto the new interface. is there any suggestions? any help is appreciated.

Off hand, I do not believe that the orange wire is needed . . .

However, if my memory serves, the EDU servos can rotate 360 + n degrees, so I would check the skematic before I pulled stuff off.

The “servos” from the robovation kits are actually servo-motors, which means that they will rotate at a given speed instead of rotating to a given position. Since these are more powerful than standard servos, the fourth wire provides the extra power they need. I would either use them with the Robovation controller if you need to use them as motors, or use the two Hitec servos that came in the kit with the 2005 robot controller if you need them to work as servos.

ok. another dilemma. we tried to use the new servos, but the old wheels that cam with the robovation kit have a square piece of metal for the axel. the piece of metal is needed for the wheel and in the old servos it went stright into them.

one more thing. i am going to use the extensions that came with the new kit to extend the old servos with a three wire and see what happens. ill see if there is a difference between that and running it with four wires.
