HERO Board USB possibly broken?

Hi all,

I was working with a HERO Board tonight, and my USB devices stopped working suddenly while I was messing with the GPIOs on the board and a Spike Relay.

No devices appear to be working with the HERO. The devices work elsewhere, and no USB controller was damaged. The USB is outputting 5V, and their is full continuity between the contacts and the solders underneath.

I have no idea if something in between the USB and the board is damaged. The rest of the board appears to be completely fine. Any ideas? Anyone from CTRE have any pointers?

Thanks,
Concerned Programmer

Did one of your 12v cables touch any of your 5v cables (conductively, of course)? My team has fried the 5v rail on rios in the past by letting this happen. The usb ports stopped working, but code execution worked. The 12v was conducted through a 5v device to the rio, and the device in the path was fried but devices not in the path of the current were not. You may have a similar situation.

I’m assuming a PWM cable must have touched one of the spike’s +V. Are you aware of any sort of fix? This sounds similar to my issue.

Sadly, I don’t. We tried to revive the 5v power on our rio but ended up giving up after we couldn’t get it to work, and ended up replacing it.
