I have searched and thus far have not found a thread on this yet.
I am curious, what is the highest autonomous score a single team has achieved so far?
The highest I am aware of is 28. Achieved at the Davis regional by team 2073 in the first match of quarter finals. (Yes, I know, it’s my team.) I know other teams must have done better.
Let’s hear about it.
I’ll start. Three lines, two balls. The first ball was intentional, the second was purely good fortune.
At Waterloo, 1114 never got 6 lines and 2 balls. their best was 5 lines and 2 balls and they were ridiculously consistent. 36 points by a single team in hybrid … that is just sick!
We can do four lines consistently (sorry about plowing you guys into the wall in the qualification match #1 paul), and we just recently added the ability too take care of the balls to, but we’re not in 1114’s league. Their auton coupled with their speed is incredible.
We have thought about it… we are one of the few teams that have the capability of catching the ball as we knock it off in autonomous. We have only been to 1 regional so far, NJ, where we had to work out a lot of bugs. Our autonomous is working well now for the Bayou regional this weekend, but maybe that will be something to work towards for nationals…
So far it looks like 1114 and 25 have set the bar the highest. My hat is off to them!!
I guess 2 balls and three lines is fairly good, but we still have room to improve.
I was just floored when they pulled that off. No one it seemed was even going for the ball during hybrid for most of the regional, then 2073 pulls it off in the QF and not just one but TWO!! Very exciting - congrats to your team Bill.
Here is the crazy thing. I never saw it happen either. I was in Hawaii on vacation with my family. I got text messages every hour or so. They were having difficulty getting Hybrid to work at all on Thurs. Finally they decided to scrap the original process and re-code. They began with just getting it to drive straight. When they got that dialed in, they added a U-turn. Now getting 8 points every time, they added the third leg, now 12 points each time.
Once they had that working, they realized that the ball was placed in their starting lane 33% of the time. So, they decided to us the IR to tell the bot to raise the lift if the ball was in their lane. Bingo, 20 points. When I got that message I was ecstatic.
When I heard they had been chosen in the first round for alliance #8, my season was complete:) . (You see, they are a second year team. Last year they came in second to last after qualifying).
The next message I got knocked me out of my Hammock. 28 points in their first QF match. Is that a success story or what???
Honestly, it was a bit of a fluke. The ball on the opposing alliance overpass just happened to be in the same lane as it was in the home lane. They had calibrated the U-turn to be exactly three lanes wide, that way they would never hit a wall no matter what lane they were in to start.
We’re not even in the same league with 1114 or 25, but what a great step forward in one year!! I hope we can continue to build on this success!!
when we get to palmetto… we have to tweek just one thing… then we will have a hybrid almost identical to 1114. we were close at peachtree but just couldn’t get it done at the end…
I remember 343 the 1st year of auto mode 2003) with your wings that spread and took down almost all the boxes. I was with a rookie team that year (1083) and we were awed by what you did.
Our only glory at peach tree that year was to get to the boxes before you did and stop your auto mode, but other than that you guys dominated.
Love to see what you can do this year.
No small feat hitting two balls and crossing 4-6 lines.
