Highest Theoretical Match Score

We have calculated that the highest theoretical match score is 512.

Auto:
14 seconds on both switch and scale (28 points each = 56 points)
4 points for ownership
15 points for all three robots crossing the auto line

Total in Auto: 75 points

Teleop:
135 seconds on both switch and scale (135 points each = 270 points)
90 points for all three robots being awarded climbs
45 points for a full vault
30 points for boost (20 points for your switch and ownership of the scale during boost and 10 points for ownership of the scale while the other alliance uses boost)
2 points for ownership of both scale and switch

Total in Teleop: 437

Total total match points: 512

Does anyone have a higher number or see an error in my calculations?

So the 4 points for ownership in auto breaks down to 2 points for the switch and 2 for the scale, right?

If you maintain possession of both the switch and the scale from auto to teleop, do you still get 2 points each for ownership again? I don’t think so based on the definition of OWNERSHIP in the glossary.

So a max of 510, right?

What about having ownership of the opposing alliances switch?

Edit: Oops, not possible, wish it was.

Having ownership of the opposing alliance’s switch doesn’t grant you points. All it does is not allow the other alliance to gain points from the switch.

The manual under section 4.2 states: "The SWITCH located closest to its ALLIANCE STATION is considered that ALLIANCE’S SWITCH. While any ROBOT can place POWER CUBES on the PLATES of either SWITCH, an ALLIANCE can only have OWNERSHIP of, and accumulate points for, their SWITCH. "

I don’t think that gets you additional points. As section 4.2 states:
“While any ROBOT can place POWER CUBES on the PLATES of either SWITCH, an ALLIANCE can only have OWNERSHIP of, and accumulate points for, their SWITCH.”

That is worth nothing.

Could you explain your match behind this? Was there a rule that gives you points during an opposing alliance’s boost? Otherwise it makes little sense why you’d double count the 10 seconds.

Check the blue box under Table 4-1 (the score breakdown table).

If ownership were to somehow switch for less than a second (say half a second) then switch back, you would get an extra point for switching each time, while only loosing “half a point” each time. Theoretically that could increase the max score. Sure it’s very much an edge case, but still.

Here’s my breakdown. I have a max of 504 calculated.

I believe if the other alliance uses the boost power up while you are in possession of the scale, it has no effect on the amount of points you receive while holding it.

10 points for ownership of the scale while the other alliance uses boost)

This part doesn’t make any sense. Boost can only get you an extra 20 points, not 30.

Otherwise everything else checks out.

Max would be around **524 **because if you own both in auto and tele is 135 not 125 in the excel sheet calc.

Possible High would be closer to 515 due to travel times in auto to Scale and switch

The most important score is the number you need to never lose. The max score is only useful to get to that number IMO of coarse.

Where in the manual does it specify that, if I own possession of the scale and the other alliance uses boost, I do not get the bonus scoring for 10 seconds from the scale?

I believe it was stated that way in the field videos, but I have not yet found a rule stating that.

Assuming boost doesn’t apply when the other alliance uses it (or assuming they won’t use it or don’t exist), I come up with the same number

I get a maximum of an even 500, assuming that it takes a second for the switch or scale to move and register the possession, making the maximum time of possession of either the switch or scale 14 seconds in Auto. So a max Auto score would be 75. Then 335 from Teleop and 90 from End Game gives 500.

If you are not able to figure out the max score do not do game design until you do. It means you do not know the rules. Read the rule book before making posts.

While it is often what you are really interested in, I suspect that making sense of scoring this year will look at point differentials rather than point, esp. for the scale and switches which are scored for each second they are in a score-worthy position.

In 4.3 it states for two cubes in boost:

Increases the points for OWNERSHIP of the SCALE from
one (1) point per second to two (2) points per second

It just says that it increases the point value for ownership of the scale, it doesn’t specifically state that only the alliance which used the boost can get double point from the scale, just that whoever has ownership of the scale gets double points, so the extra 10 points should be valid.

So am I unless my math is wrong. This is after update 1 BTW
