*I’m looking for recommendations for an inexpensive home wireless router that can run the latest full version of DD-WRT.
I’ve used an Asus RT-N16 at home for a few years. No problems.
What version of DD-WRT are you running on it?
FYI…
New FCC rules could ban DD-WRT and wireless router modification
V24-sp2
Did that come pre-installed or did you download and flash it yourself?
The Wirecutter (which hasn’t failed me yet) recommends the TP-Link Archer C7 and makes reference to WRT support. I have this router, and it’s been rock solid for my condo since I bought it. Haven’t had to reboot it once that I can remember, and I bought in September. It’s a palpable step up from the standard wifi in my U-Verse box, which is also about six and a half years old now so I guess I can’t be too grumpy.
Now you’re taxing my memory. I’m almost positive I flashed it myself (and a quick Google search seems to confirm that).
Once I had it up and running, I spent a day or two configuring it in some needlessly complex way - just to see if I could - and haven’t had to touch it since.
That article is dated over half a year ago. Anybody know the current status??
From November 2015
The wording in the article is very Clintonesque. It depends on what your definition of “is” is.
“They aren’t banning dd-wrt on routers” could mean “They’re just banning users from upgrading their router firmware to dd-wrt”.
If the above is true, then they’ve effectively banned dd-wrt.
Does anyone know what the latest FCC rules are concerning this, and what router manufacturers are doing with their new models?
