Hook tape no longer an option for panels?

With the new V2 update to the rules, does that mean the use of hook tapes will violate G15?

In general, I’d say no. Attaching to the loop tape on the game piece with standard hook tape can’t hinder the natural behavior of the loop tape because its natural behavior is to attach to the hook tape. If you were using super-strong hook tape or dual lock that does damage the loop tape, that would be illegal.

Would hook tape, even the part number called out in the manual, on a roller running “at speed” be considered aggressive in your view of G15?

In my opinion, if it damages the loop tape (i.e. destroys the loops) then it isn’t legal. If it doesn’t, then it’s fine. Of course though, I’m not an LRI and my opinion is not law.
