Hopper Charge Station

How did Hopper win that match? The intake of that robot was on the charging station. That wouldn’t make any sense as that would probably been considered “supporting” the charging station. Not to mention, that robot was also on the ground, which should have invalidated it. Another instance of inconsistent referreing?

4096 got hit in endgame while contacting their charge station, which meant they were counted as docked and engaged. Because of that, the fact that they were on the ground and touching the charge station didn’t matter and 1323 and 4414 also counted as docked and engaged.

The robot which was on the carpet with its arm extended was contacted in end game while contacting it’s charging station.

Because that robot is considered engaged, there were no robots touching the charging station which were not docked, so the other 2 are considered engaged.

Please fully comprehend the rules because piling on the refs, we already have a lot of that.

Edit: snipped, great explanation as well

Oh, interesting. I suppose that makes sense.

For further clarity, the rules do not specify that 4414 and 1323 are automatically counted as Engaged:

The rules only specify that Docked robots are counted as Engaged, so 4414 and 1323 still had to get Docked in order to count as Engaged; they weren’t automatically Engaged just from the Red contact with 4096.

(And then 4096 was already Docked from the contact, meaning that all three robots were upgraded from Docked to Engaged)

Fun fact. We had comms issue during that match most likely due to Ethernet connections that weren’t hot glued that had become loose in that match. We lost comms multiple times.

Before we got hit, our arm was hovering over the charge station and not touching it. When we got hit, it reloosened our wiring and we lost comms and the arm fell onto the charge station. The continued robot contact afterwards is what triggered the rule. If they had hit us and backed away before our arm landed on the charge station, they would have been in the clear.
