Hosting Problems...

We are currently hosting our site (http://www.redbarons63.org) from the site http://www.sevaa.com. They claim that it is an authentication problem that are site is no longer working, but many others have tried to log on to our site, and are experiencing similar problems (i.e. no site showing up, even though I am sure there is one there). Has anyone else experienced this problem with Sevaa?

I don’t use (and never have used) Sevaa; but, as a general reply to your question there’s a good chance that WebHostingTalk has at least one thread about experiences with any given web hosting provider. If I were you, I’d check there, too (in addition to reading any other replies here).

We had that exact same problem and our site is hosted by Sevaa. I asked about it about a year ago and determined that we could not use http headers and other things for authentication. The server security simply did not allow it. One thing you can check is the permissions on the file, it didn’t let certain things work when the permissions were set too high. CHMOD it to prevent write access from the group or public. If that does not work, I would say that the server security will not let you do it.

Another alternative is to use the server admin control panel and go to “protect web directories”. You can add users and set a certain file or directory to require a login.

Hey Guys,

As a rule of thumb, all PHP scripts must be chmoded to 755 to run properly without an “Internal Server Error” with your hosting accounts.

If you have problems in the future just submit a ticket via the “Get Supoort” link in My Sevaa at https://my.sevaa.com or you can shoot me an email ([email protected]) as I handle most of the FIRST related accounts anyway.

I recall your issue being with you WAN IP address being blocked due to excessive FTP authentication failures. If you have more than 3 failures in a 5 minute span, the IP gets blacklisted from that server.

Kind Regards,
