Hot days and cool nights

Hey just a thought about the great Florida weather and the effect it has on the native northern body. Wouldn’t it make sense to give everyone a break during the heat of the day (say 1 to 4) so that they could get out of the sun and relax a bit. If people wanted to go to the park they could - if they wanted to stay under a tree, or in the pits they could. If people wanted to go for a swim they could - and then schedule the matches to go into the evening hours - after the sun goes down when it gets alot cooler! Surely this may be a problem with the scheduling of resources and the Disney entertainers, but I thought it may be worth looking into. The sun tires people out and the heat makes people sweat, and get more irritable than they are normally! Just a thought !

I’m a very pale New Englander and I couldn’t agree more with Mike about this one. I must of spent about 30 dollars of those slush drinks they had because I thought I was going to get dehydrated from having that hot boiling sun on my body all day. I think having a couple hours off would be good, I think it would keep people and fans more enthusiastic if we do it when it is cooler. How do you come up with all these great ideas Mike??

I just want to remind everyone to drink plenty of water and make sure that you don’t get too much sun. Heat stroke and sun poisoning have been a problem in the past with my old team. What can i say, I care
Good Luck

Awww! How cute! Thanks Andy:-) It always helps to just take a break and go find some air conditioning every now and then too!

Oh by the way, the pits are usually big enough and cool enough to take a short nap during breaks.

Except when the air-con breaks. Last year I had to make a fan out of a power drill and some cardboard…

Prepare yourselves.

Ok, I figure I’ll give you my advice too… I saw a team at the Mid-Atlantic regional that had green shirts with 3 with stripes on the sleeves, and v-necks… Make sure you put sunscreen where the v-neck doesn’t cover… If you don’t, you’ll have a nice little burn thing… It’ll be in the shape of a triangle… Just telling you from experience…

All you northerners do nothing but complain.

When you live in the south I guess you just get used to it…but here’s a hint…those slush drinks probably don’t help much when you’re actually thirsty…nothing beats water…or at least a cold coke…(oh sorry, wouldn’t want to endorse anyone without cash behind it… carbonated beverage).

Actually, any drink with caffeine, which includes Mt. Dew, is a bad
choice in hot weather. Caffeine is a diuretic, which causes you to lose
fluid via urination.

Your best bet is good ol’ dihydrogen oxide.

Speaking as someone who has been more or less sleep deprived by FIRST for 4 years now, I can say with some authority that:

FIRST does not work without Mountain Dew!

Coke, Coffee, etc. are just sorry substitutes

It’s Mountain Dew or it’s just sleep walking!

Well, I hafta agree that Mountain Dew and FIRST go together, but I can think of something else that works and you’re not sleep walking… JOLT!
