HOT TIP! SECRET Best Buy Ads

http://www.bestbuy.com/site//olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat104300050017&type=category

These won’t be advertised in the newspaper ad (which is also available there).

I didn’t find anything I needed in the secret ads, but I plan on getting the 19" Widescreen Samsung monitor, 2GB Flash Drive, and 2GB SD card

this site has some good info:

I’m planning on camping out at the KoP Best Buy for one of the LCD Giant Screen TV’s as a Christmas Present to myself.

What do you think of that $250 laptop? That looks worth camping out for. It seems decent and uber-cheap.

I tried that last year for Wal-Mart’s $400 laptop, never will I do it again! I ended up getting a way better laptop for $50 more about two months later. My tip to the wise, wait until January!

I camped BB last year, and am thinking either CC or there again this year

I can seriously use a 2Gb Flash drive, as 512Mb ain’t what it used to be. :ahh:

A 2Gb SD card and the 60Gb portable external hard drive would be nice too. And maybe soon I’ll get a new digital camera, as my current one is about 20,000 pictures old and is starting to show it’s age.

Why is it that every time you increase the capacity of a storage device, you still continue to run out of room? It’s just like highways. Every time they widen a highway or add another lane, the traffic is just as bad as it was before they started construction.

I can definitely afford to buy a 2GB card for my cell phone.
I’m trying to look for a Nikon D80 on sale…but so far i haven’t really been successful. If anyone knows where can i get it on sale, please do let me know

Thanks

Imad

Get a job at circuit city, wait three months. You’ll get a very nice discount on Nikon products (I can’t disclose exactly what it is, but you won’t regret it, since you also earn money for working too  )

So you want me to leave my highly paid job as an Engineering Intern with Washington Airport Authorities, and get a low paid job at Circuit City…and then wait three months?
I think by the time I’ll be eligible for the discount, i will lost more money than i can save on a Nikon… :stuck_out_tongue:

(don’t even tell me to start a part-time with CC; i already work as a Robotics/Education Intern with Smithsonian on part time basis :ahh: )

Here is another good site w/ actual scans of the Black Friday ads.

Also check out http://www.cybermonday.com/

It’s basically Black Friday, online and the Monday after thanksgiving.

Maybe a moderator should change the name of this thread to Black Friday 2006?

Yeah, definitely looks like a nice little computer for anyone who doesn’t have one, or wants a second one. Too bad I’m already blowing a lot of money on a TV or I would think about picking one up.

Last year i was about to do that. Instead of spending a lot of money on a TV, I ended up buying a HD/DLP Projector. People might disagree, but i think that was the BEST investment I’ve ever made in my life towards electronics.
Now i can adjust my screen between 93’ to 120’, not only that i get perfect quality picture and sound. The only down side is that it requires a lot of set up and bulbs are expensive (depending on brand, but it doesn’t expire until two-three years).

I was thinking of going to Best Buy on Friday to get a digital camera, but I did some searching and it turned out that I got a much better deal on Newegg.com so, if you want to get the best deal look around a little more you’ll get may end up with a better deal. (and just maybe you won’t need to get up early at all.)

I started my shopping already.
Thinkgeek Robot wrapping paper ftw & other things.

Best Buy was crazy. I got up at 6am Thursday for work…stayed up all day and got to Best Buy at Midnight. I waited outside in 30F temps (going on warm-up shifts with my group in our car) until 5am when we got in. At about 330, everyone packed up in like 30 seconds and scrunched together. At 4, they passed out the tickets…at about half way through the line, we got a few good ones that passed by (nothing i wanted was a ticket item). I managed to be the first group to enter the store and got corraled through the computer/phone stuff…no where near the projector I wanted. However, a friend of mine got it for me so I walked out the door with the $400 one  Next me and my two friends went to iHop. After that, I went to Circuit City with one of my friends and waited THREE HOURS to get checked out (for two items). Now i’m at home resting before I go to work at 3.

Best Buy in Kokomo, IN was insane. We had decent weather; no rain, albeit a little cold. I was able to get everything I wanted; a 19" Widescreen Samsung Monitor, 2 GB SD Card and a 2GB Flash drive. That was about $200. My dad got the same Samsung monitor (they only had like…10 at the store) and was able to get one of the Sony DGR800(??) Receivers online at the Black Friday price. Though $399 isn’t necessarily a great, or even good price, he also got a $150 gift card with it.

I walked in Staples this morning at 7am - there were no lines! - picked up a 1Gb Cruzer Flash drive for $15 (their shipment of the 2Gb ones was MIA) and a 2Gb SanDisk SD Card for $30 - and checked out about five minutes later. To add to that, there was an additional $7 online rebate on the flash drive, so I ended up paying only $8 for a 1Gb Flash drive that is normally $70.

I’d say that’s a good deal.

And to make the day even better, I went skiing the entire afternoon at Jiminy Peak in the Berkshires. So today ended up being Black [and White] Friday. :stuck_out_tongue:

My Staples haul was pretty straightforward:

  1. The same $8 Cruzer Micro flash drive Art got
  2. Free surge strip, since you can’t have enough of them on campus.
  3. The $249 PowerShot A620/printer combo (Brand new Canon photo printer for sale, yours for $70+shipping…)
  4. Two 1 GB SD cards for the camera, as a) it was a smidge cheaper than one 2 GB, and b) it was suggested by a gentleman with me in line. (If one releases the magic smoke, you’ve got a spare.)
