I see only two legitimate references to this phone number online. Both are from convention/expo scam warning lists. One is tied to the name “Mike Smith” , the other is tied to Expo Key (more info on Expo Key can be found in my previous writeup)
I don’t think this number is actually directly affiliated with Expo Key. It looks more like the creator of that list was looking at the line above “Mike Smith” on the other list, and assumed Mike Smith was connected to Expo Key. Calling the number, the voicemail system actually says ExhibitorsHub (the company that kicked off my deep dive in the first place). Expo Key and ExhibitorsHub are intertwined, so the number may be used by both names, but Expo Key doesn’t use 1-800 numbers, and ExhibitorsHub does.
This number and the number listed on ExhibitorsHub’s website are both 1-800 numbers managed by RingCentral, an online service for VOIP phone numbers. They likely pay less than $50/month for each 1-800 number they use, and grab new numbers once the old one starts being reported more often. This new number hasn’t been around for long, and the oldest scam report I see online for it is just a few days ago.
