Houston Week 0 Practice (Feb 16, 17, & 18)

The Houston Week 0 event will be hosted at St. Agnes Academy this year on Feb 16, 17, and 18.
We will have a gym with some amount of FRC carpet, discs, goals, and pyramid(s). If you have field elements or discs you can bring please list them in the RSVP form.

Please sign up on this form

This event is designed to get a little bit of practice in before the bag date (Feb 19) and to make sure everyone’s robot will be ready for the regional. We will be doing pre-inspections for teams to make sure you are ready to pass the real inspection the first day of the regional.
We probably won’t have too many full practice matches, but if we have enough working teams we can set something up.

The DiscoBots plan to attend and encourage more Houston Teams to participate ! Since our rookie year in 2008, the DiscoBots help coordinate a Week 0 event in Houston. Sadly, very few of the 25 Houston-area teams attend this event.

It would be great to learn lessons from other regions how to increase team participation at Week 0 events.

We’re very happy to have the Discobots helping out with this event. We already have 5 times signed up. Please signup it really is a great way to get in some practice before the regionals.

Allen, I would like to thank you and your team for repeatedly taking the initiative and organizing activities for the benefit of the other less experienced teams (team workshops, mentor workshops, LEGO robotics workshops, mock kickoff, rookie builds, bumper builds…).

Would it be possible for you to briefly put on your Inspector’s hat and mercilessly pick over our robot so that we can fix anything that is questionable before bag and tag?

Thanks also to Andy for hosting the scrimmages at Rice in past years. It is too bad that so few teams are missing out on an opportunity to give their robot a good shakedown.

Thanks again gentlemen.

My plan is to do as close to complete inspections of every robot(that wants one) that comes to the event as I can.
