Got stuck on this question when completing my profile, especially since I plan on continuing to volunteer/be involved in FIRST when I actually become an alumni
You’d put “No” for now, then change it after you graduate.
If there’s an option in the drop-down for “current student”, use that instead.
Oh I didn’t know that you could change answers post-graduation, thank you!
As far as I’m aware, most of the stuff can be changed pretty easily.
One thing I would strongly suggest, though, is that you make sure to call out your status as a current student in the “Notes for VC” section when applying for a role, even if there’s a place elsewhere. Makes it more visible.
You can certainly change it later from the Dashboard. I will note, however, if you happen to be an FLL or FTC alum, while you are a current FRC student, the answer to this question should be “Yes.” It’ll ask follow up questions about which programs.
To Eric’s point about adding a VC note, you can (and should) list your team affiliation when applying to events, as well.
That dropdown also doesn’t really have any important implications (as far as I’m aware). Probably feeds into the bucket of “interesting data that FIRST would like to have”, but it isn’t like you’re going to be missing out on phenomenal swag or anything if you answer “wrong”. So don’t sweat it too much.
Some events like to put Alumni status on badges or do some other forms of recognition, but yeah, nothing major.
