How do you mount a vex magnetic encoder on a west coast gear box

Our team would like to use the vex magnetic encoder for our west coast drive train but there is no clear way of how to mount the encoder. We are using a west coast products dual speed west drive or wdc dual speed base. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Based on my understanding of the layout of that gearbox, there is no direct way to mount an encoder to it.

If the chains on your drive system drive a sprocket on a live axle (rather than driving a wheel on a dead axle), you could potentially drill out the appropriate hole and mount the encoder to a live axle instead of to the gearbox and still get good rotation data. Also, if you went this route, you would want to buy the CTRE version of that encoder, the Vex one is designed specifically for versaplanetary gearboxes.
