Definitely too soon to know for sure as teams should still be figuring out what to do rather than how to do it, but from a practical standpoint, I expect many/most teams to do the cargo scoring on the same lift/arm/whatever as the hatch cover scoring, which does not lend itself to shooting.
Edit: Anybody who plans to do cargo and NOT the covers apparently read a different set of rules (particularly table 5.1, Cargo row) than I did.

Our current idea is to suck them in from the back of our robot, then shoot them up a ramp
You should turn this into a poll, you can do it by clicking the gear icon while editing and clicking “build poll”.
EDIT: My group I brainstormed with decided on maybe shooting.
When I click the gear icon all I see are “Hide details” and “Insert date”
That’s weird… Maybe you could just try clicking edit and then paste this BBCode in:
[poll type=regular results=always]
* Shooting
* Telescopic Arm
* Lift
* Other
[/poll]
Hopefully this helps! (I joined a few hours ago, so Google helped me on this.
It says I’m not allowed to create a poll.
Oooooohhh. Ok. Seems like your not at trust level one yet, I had no clue there were restrictions, sorry.
I think my team is gonna try to put the balls in the holes
Shooting but using the camera’s for auto aim which would be coded on the brain of the robot ■■■it would do all the calculations.

Brilliant
You sir are a genius
Or just build a mechanical shaq and you can dunk on everybody.
First day, worry about what, not how.
We’ll be spiking our cargo into the cargo ship.
Always be spiking™
That does seem like a good place to put them
