Thought it would be fun to see how different teams say their numbers, and what patterns and exceptions there are.
Even though examples are included to help with understanding the options, these polls are asking how YOU say YOUR TEAM’s number specifically, not some other number.
How do you say your 2-digit number?
as two single-digit #s e.g. 12 = “one two”
as one tens # e.g. 12 = “twelve”
whatever I feel like

How do you say your 3-digit number?
as three single-digit #s e.g. 123 = “one two three”
as one tens # and one single digit # in any order e.g. 123 = “one twenty-three,” etc.
as one hundreds # e.g. 123 = “one hundred and twenty-three”
whatever I feel like

How do you say your 4-digit number?
as four single-digit #s e.g. 1234 = “one two three four”
as two tens #s e.g. 1234 = “twelve thirty-four”
as one tens # and two single-digit #s in any order e.g. 1234 = “one two thirty-four,” etc.
as one hundreds # and one tens # in any order e.g. 1234 = “one two hundred and thirty four,” etc.
as one thousands # e.g. 1234 = “one thousand two hundred and thirty-four”
Twenty one oh two for us. I think I pronounce most team numbers as two tens, regardless of digit count. Leading zeros on the second number get pronounced as "oh"s.
71 = [][47] = Seventy One
701 = [7][01] = Seven Oh One
1717 = [17][17] = Seventeen Seventeen
In general i go with tens so that’s how i voted but there’s plenty of exceptions.
On our team I hear both 4-2-2 and 4-22. Of course theres 2-4-6-8 which would be sinful to say any other way. Some other exceptions for me are 9-7-7 and 3-4-6 which are always the individual digits in my mind.
This reminds me of the most dramatic alliance selection I can ever recall. This was at an off-season back in like 2004 or 2005. Both 116 and 1111 were available to be picked at the time. The alliance captain kept getting tongue tied when making the pick.
“Eleven…errr… one one… err… one… errr, ummm, one hundred and sixteen”
Felt bad for the captain at the time, but glad that my (then) team was picked.
