How many BSA Jamboree Attendees/Visitors?

Hi all! All of us here in West Virginia are extremely excited to be the permanent host of all future Boy Scouts of America National Jamborees, the first of which will be July 15-24 2013.

So my question to you is: how many of you will be there? I will be an assistant scoutmaster for contingent D223 from Mountaineer Area Council. Also, rumor has it that Dean Kamen will be in attendance. Does anybody know when? I would like to try to get to him when there isn’t a crowd of 30,000 people

Also, what are your thoughts on The Summit? For those that don’t know, The Summit Bechtel National Scout Reserve is the newest of four national high-adventure bases and the home of all future national jamborees (and 2019 world jamboree). It is located directly adjacent to the New River Gorge National River in southern West Virginia. So, again, what are your thoughts? If you are participating, what have you thought of the organization and communication so far, and do you think that this will be a smooth jamboree?

FRC 2468 has some students (FRC and FTC) attending but I am not for sure how many. One of our mentors, Bob Witowski, will be working the ropes/climbing. If you are there look him and give him a hollar.

Norman

FRC4322 has four students and two mentors attending. Look for Jamboree Troop B306 and Crew F105 with the Orange County Council contingent.

I am going to be on volunteer STEM Quest Staff at the Boy Scout Jamboree starting next week in West Virginia. Jamboree is held once every 4 years with about 40,000 people attending. :ahh:
Apparently FIRST will have a presence there:
“Join FIRST® and NASA for hands-on training that will give you a jumpstart on your robotics merit badge and earn a limited edition patch! You will learn to program LEGO® robots to complete missions on Mars, tele-operate both FIRST Tech Challenge (middle/high school) and FIRST Robotics Competition (high school) robots to score points and get up-close with some experimental robots courtesy of NASA.”
I will be helping to delivery Electronics Merit Badge. ::rtm::
Who is going to be there to represent FIRST?

Our local NASA facility is the affiliate partner for WV, and where our VISTAs and Senior Mentor are based. That is the FIRST representation that I know of. They were there last jamboree as well, but we have grown a lot in the last four years, and hopefully the presence there will be even better than 2013.

At one point I was supposed to work in the STEM MakerLab, working with a set of 3D printers, but that fell through. Many of my friends will be working at various positions though.
