How many fire alarms do you get at your school?

Our school just had 3 false alarm in the span of 1 hour + another one earlier in the day, making total of 4 just today. False alarms are nothing new to us but having 4 is a new record from what I know. It is so funny because students don’t move and teachers don’t care either. If we have actual fire, no one is going to leave.

It’s not uncommon for work to be done in the building that inadvertently causes the alarm to trigger. Could be as simple as welding/cutting/burning something too close to a detector, accidentally cutting some wiring, or just a faulty detector.

4 in an hour sounds like faulty equipment to me though. That’s certainly not a planned test

We set the fire alarm off once trying to use our plasma cutter without any ventilation. We’ve also had 4 go off consecutively although I have no idea why. Probably some kids in the bathrooms

its not a faulty system, its kids vaping into the smoke detector lol

We get too many fire alarms. We joke around that they should move the fire station to be right next to the school so when a fire alarm goes off they’ll be right there.

As a student at a school which is right next to a fire station, it has never been a major issue to us having people intentionally pull it when there was no danger. (Local deterace maybe)

Our cities fire trucks are across the street from the school.

Not a school, but at my government office, we average about two a year, though we did have two in the same day about eight or ten years ago - both real, in different places, with little or no damage. One was a popcorn burn and the other was related to construction. The base firehouse is about a mile away, but it’s a pretty spread out NASA facility.

Our school has very few false alarms and no pulls. Here’s our record:

Senior: test 1 during school day. alarms did not go off in one building, so we had test 2 the next week.
Junior: test 1 (student informed) during school day. test 2 (students not informed) in same month.
midway through the year, installation in the gym tripped the fire alarm system, causing evacuation and a fire department call. it happened twice, but we were told to ignore the second.
Sophomore: 2 tests
Freshman: 2 tests

My dorm building averaged a fire alarm every 4 days for my first semester of college. Each time we would be outside for about an hour and they always happened at roughly 11pm - 1am. There’s a reason I’m commuting now…

We’ve had the alarm go off 7 times in one day

We set ours off with the plasma cutter once too…

I have wayyyy too many stories about fire alarms.
September 2016: 5 fire alarms in the space of an hour, the first one right after my Latin teacher told us about a bet with a student that there wouldn’t be more than 4 fire alarms that week.
At one point when robotics and the Maker Club teacher were at the school on a Saturday, someone tried to burn through a 2x4 on the laser cutter. That was fun.
I don’t pay attention to fire alarms, they go off randomly due to various random stuff, none of which involves fires. Just loud noise, really.

about once a year the local fire department flushes out the fire hydrants outside the school which for some reason causes the fire alarms to go off inside the school, I think we had about 5 in a day once. Other than that we have one a month because it is mandated by the state. after going to school in the same district for 12 years I’ve only seen a fire alarm being pulled twice on purpose because somebody thought it would be funny.

I’m homeschooled, but the smoke alarm usually goes off every so often when we fry something. Its pretty annoying.
