Anyone know how many solo rockets have occurred so far this season??
One robot filling rocket with no direct help.
Flying Toasters, 3641, were getting an standing ovation for pulling it off in their last QF at Detroit but their final piece of cargo bounced out of the portal with ~20 seconds left.
.
They picked it back up but then turned around and headed for the 12 points for a climb instead.
I would guess atleast 100, considering many teams have completed solo rockets multiple times at multiple events
There have been 140 completed rockets total (as of last night), so I guess it comes down to if more than 70% of them have been solo rockets vs team rockets.
Team 245, their last qual match they tried to fill a rocket just by themselves because they knew they were going to be in championship matches.
The blue alliance gives a count of how many rockets were filled, but that doesnāt tell you exactly how many solo rockets have been done. Based on that, there are under 140 solo rockets completed.
Iāve seen 254, 987, 971, 118, 148, 1678, 1323 and a few other teams complete rockets solo, but Iāve only watched a few events so there are many more.
2046 completed 2 solo rockets in Q55 and Q62 at auburn mt view. As well as an assisted rocket from 1983 in Q30.
70% is perhaps a high count. Most completed rockets I have seen so far were a team effort, if only to have a allied robot complete the lower portion of the Rocket.
Multiple teams at Finger Lakes were able to do it in practice matches (870, 340, 3015, 1511), but once defense was on them, only 870 was ever left undefended long enough to pull it off in qualifications. At Tech Valley, 2791 soloed the rocket multiple times.
Unfortunately defense was much more prominent at CNY, so we didnāt solo the rocket as often as we did at TVR. However we still filled it ourselves multiple times, and did solo a rocket with 45 seconds left without utilization of autonomous software (including vision and line following) in quals 24
Dang. The driver must be really good or something
Very impressive! Plus, it wasnāt JUST a solo rocket ā they also placed two other cargo (one into the cargo ship, one into the other rocket), after finishing their solo rocket, and did a HAB L3 climb, too!
I am curious ā was it that 2791ās robot doesnāt use any āautonomous softwareā (no ārobot visionā or line following) in any of your matches, or that those capabilities werenāt functioning in that match?
We chose not to use our line following because it was reducing our cycle times. We later on chose to utilize line following on lvl 1 of rocket and on all hatches on cargo ship.
We donāt currently have vision.
3937 was able to complete the rocket RP 5 times at Arkansas. Four of those were solo and the other we had help from 323. We had light defense on us during those solos nothing as hard as what we have seen in other regionals.
Iām presuming that you must have a ādriver aidā camera for use in sandstorm? Do you also use the ādriver aidā camera in teleop, or were you doing all of that just looking at the robot from the driver station?
Very impressive driving! Iām particularly impressed by the āRockford turns.ā
As a result, Iām curious about the drive base configuration. Do you have omni wheels, or is that a traditional 6WD? Or something else?
We do have a front facing camera that we use in driver-controlled sandstorm for our double hatch autos, and also in tele for intaking game pieces and scoring.
We have 6 wheels, all colson except front 2 are omni.
Not as fast as shaker, but we got our first soloed rocket at PAPHI this weekend:

Thanks for the info! Our drive team is now trying to figure out how to do those smooth āRockford Turnsā (aka āJ-Turnā) that you make look so easy!
5460 Strike Zone soloed a rocket in Q21 at FIM Milford in week 2.
